Career Expo Caters To Veterans, Spouses

It’s tough finding a job right now regardless of one’s background, but veterans Thursday are getting the undivided attention of local businesses. LP Field is the place to be for veterans in need of a job.
Sometimes once the pomp and circumstance of returning from active duty have died down, finding a job can be a battle. That’s where the group RecruitMilitary steps in.
“Being veterans ourselves, we have a very keen understanding and also great passion to help fellow veterans get connected with employment opportunities and education opportunities, as well as their spouses,” said John Lundberg of RecruitMilitary.
There will be dozens of employers on hand at the career expo looking for people who know how to follow orders and complete an assignment — something former soldiers are known for.
“They’ve had to be able to adapt pretty well in generally arduous conditions — an incredible work ethic, an understanding that getting the job done in a timely manner, being able to do things with less than desirable resources,” said Lundberg.
Booths will be set up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers expect about 400 to 500 soldiers to be there with resumes in hand.
“My advice to anybody who comes down here (Thursday) is to talk to everyone,” said Lundberg. “Talk to every vendor who’s here, whether you know who they are or not, because you never know whether that person has an opportunity for you or not.”
